Elektrotechnisch Advies- en Installatiebureau Meurs B.V. (better known as “Meurs”) from Wateringen is a total supplier in the field of electrical installations, renovation, and maintenance. Meurs distinguishes itself through a high standard of quality and unburdens clients from the initial advice up to the final installation and delivery. The company thinks in terms of tomorrow's solutions and has acted as a preferred supplier for major retail companies, including McDonald’s, for more than 20 years, where continuous availability in a complex playing field is a strict requirement.

The company was founded approximately 80 years ago by Raymond Meurs' grandfather. Since 2008, Raymond, as the third generation, has been at the helm as CEO, during which he managed to expand the company significantly. However, due to this growth, he noticed that his personal ambition did not lie in running a larger organization and the associated management and HR tasks. Maasdael was brought in to guide the entrepreneur through the entire sales process.

The challenge

The main complexity of this process lay in the substance. Meurs was heavily dependent on a single large customer. In sales processes, such customer concentration can deter potential buyers and be seen as a major risk. It was Maasdael's task to strategically turn this potential weakness into a commercial strength.

Beyond the deal

Maasdael drafted a meticulous information memorandum in which customer dependency was successfully transformed into a strategic growth story. In addition, the real estate was preventively appraised to clean up the financials and buyers were given optimal insight into the cost structure.

In the subsequent phase, Maasdael pitted multiple bidders against each other. Due to strict confidentiality and lack of time on the entrepreneur's part, Maasdael took over the intensive process management during the due diligence as much as possible.

The value of sector knowledge

The electrotechnical sector is in the midst of a major consolidation wave, with which the Meurs transaction aligns seamlessly. Thanks to a strong track record in this industry, Maasdael knows the active buyers, their historical bids, and the market dynamics. As a result, we know exactly how a proposition should be optimally presented and where the room lies to maximize bids during negotiations.
