Rollema is a logistics service provider with approximately 90 employees, specializing in the transport and handling of special and often vulnerable objects. From Delft and a network of hubs in the Benelux, the company serves customers in sectors including ATMs, retail, and industry.
The company distinguishes itself through integrated technical-logistical services, in which storage, pre-installation, transport, and on-site installation come together. The reason for the process lay in the desire to guarantee the long-term continuity of the company, partly in view of the shareholders' phase and the lack of succession within the family.
The challenge
The challenge lay in finding a suitable buyer for a fifth-generation family business with a strong history and a leading position in a niche market. For the shareholders, it was essential that a new partner would fit well not only financially, but also in terms of vision and culture.
This required a careful and targeted process, in which the quality of the buyer was central and the continuity of the company, employees, and customer relationships weighed heavily.
Beyond the deal
Maasdael clearly mapped out the shareholders' wishes and principles, placing them at the center of selecting potential buyers. Based on strategic and financial analyses, we designed the process, guided due diligence, and actively supported negotiations and the purchase agreement.
The process was successfully completed with the sale of Rollema to Janssen/Logicall Group. This makes Rollema part of a larger logistics player, further strengthening its service offering and network. For the shareholders, this meant a carefully designed transition while maintaining continuity.
The value of sector knowledge
The transaction aligns with the development in which logistics service providers are shifting from executors to total partners. Customers expect more relief, flexibility, and national coverage. This requires investment, scale, and a broad range of services.
For companies in specialized logistics niches, this is a clear signal to think about their positioning: continuing to grow independently or joining a larger player to respond more quickly to changing customer needs.
